Lactation Services
Rex Women's Center wants every mom and baby to feel comfortable with feeding, whether that is breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Rex Lactation Services is staffed by internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC) and breastfeeding educators who are also registered nurses. Consultants are available at Rex every day to assist new moms both during their hospital stay and beyond.
All lactation consultants have had specialized training to assist with both routine and more specialized breastfeeding situations.
Our lactation consultant's goal is to deliver optimal care to nursing infants and their mothers with consistent and accurate breastfeeding education and outreach. If you're thinking about breastfeeding, or you need assistance with your newborn once you're at home or work, know that Rex Women's Center is here for you.
Benefits of Breastfeeding
- Breast milk increases immunities for your baby.
- Breastfeeding meets the emotional needs of babies and can help them feel more secure.
- Breast-fed babies have fewer allergies, ear infections, digestive and respiratory illnesses and fewer bouts with colic.
- Breast milk is perfect nutrition for babies, as mothers milk changes as your baby grows.
Rex Lactation Services offers assistance to new mothers and babies during their hospital stay. A lactation consultant can assist you with problems as identified by your physician or nurse. If you would like to speak with a lactation consultant, just let your nurse know.
Gift Certificates are also available - call us at (919) 784-3224.
