Rex Cancer Center offers numerous support groups, classes and programs for our patients, their family members and loved ones.
Support groups are an excellent complement to medical care. They provide education and foster emotions that positively influence the fight against illness.
Art Cart
Patients, family and friends have an opportunity to participate in creative healing art projects while at Rex Cancer Center. Please call the Rex Cancer Resource Center at (919) 784-1641 for more information on dates and tmes.
Blood Cancer Support Group
This group offers the education, support and understanding you need to cope with blood-related cancers. Please call (919) 784-1641 for more information.
Triangle Breast Cancer Support Group
This group is for all women faced with breast cancer who need support, understanding, guidance and education to help them stay strong and positive. Please call the Rex Cancer Resource Center at (919) 784-1641 for more information.
Breast Friends Support Group
Younger women (40 and under) who are faced with breast cancer and are looking for a group to share support, provide understanding and guidance as well as education to help them through their journey are invited to join this group. Support a Sister Breast Cancer Support Group
Hosted by Save our Sisters of Rex, this support group offers women of color support, education and hope throughout their experience with breast cancer. For more information please call (919) 784-6247.
Breast Cancer Surgery Class
This free class provides an overview of surgery options, pre- and post-operative care, resources and special support and guidance for newly diagnosed women and their loved ones prior to the patients’ surgery. Daytime classes are offered on a weekly basis. For more information or to enroll, please call (919) 784-3378.
Cancer Nutrition Workshop
When beginning treatment for cancer, good nutrition becomes even more important. Join this group during the day on the first and third Tuesday of each month and in the evening on the second Wednesday of each month in the Rex Cancer Center Resource Center to learn more about good nutritional choices during treatment. kidscan!
Cancer can impact the entire family – especially children. kidscan!, a monthly support group program sponsored by the Holt Foundation, is specifically designed for children ages 6-12 to help them understand their parent or loved ones’ cancer. Parents are also invited to attend a separate meeting held at the same time as the monthly meeting for children. Please call (919) 784-6455 for more information
Look Good, Feel Better
This program provides women undergoing treatment for cancer with nail, skin and wig care tips, along with a beauty makeover and special pampering. Please join us in the morning on the first Monday of each month. Call 800-4-CANCER to register.
Massage Services & Gentle Yoga Classes
Rex offers free chair massages as well as low-priced half-body and full-body massages, and free gentle yoga classes. Please call (919) 784-1641 to schedule an appointment or for more information on dates and times.
Prostate Cancer Support Group
This forum for men and their partners meets monthly to provide up-to-date prostate cancer information and support to those whose lives have been affected by prostate cancer. Please call Phil Harris at (919) 772-1047 or the Rex Cancer Resource Center at (919) 784-1641 for more information.
Victory Voices
