Pulmonary Rehabilitation

                                              Rex Pulmonary Rehabilitation

 

Rex's medically supervised Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is designed to help patients with chronic lung disease recover more quickly and enhance their quality of life. In 2009, Rex Healthcare received Wake County’s first pulmonary rehabilitation program certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Our program is beneficial for patients  who:

  • Suffer from respiratory problems and have trouble with simple daily living activities
  • Are recovering from pulmonary surgery
  • Suffer from emphysema
  • Have chronic bronchitis
  • Have asthma

Enrolling in Rex's Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is a safe and effective way to:

  • Minimize respiratory problems
  • Reduce hospitalizations
  • Learn to manage breathing problems
  • Feel better sooner and feel stronger
  • Reduce stress
  • Improve overall wellness

About the Program

  • Participation begins with a physician referral.
  • Lasts 20-30 sessions, depending on the patient's condition and the physician's recommendation.
  • Following an initial evaluation, exercise sessions are three times each week.  Class participants are monitored by our clinical staff to ensure a healthy workout.
  • Educational sessions on proper breathing techniques and relaxation, as well as nutritional counseling are available.
  • Program is billed on a per-service basis and is typically covered by major medical insurance.
  • Additional education and support programs are available through the Rex Lung Center.
