Thunderous Finish

After a stretch of mid-day sunshine, the storms returned halfway through the final round at the Rex Hospital Open. 54-hole leader John Riegger was crowned 2010 Champion when the final round was officially cancelled at 2:40pm. Congratulations to John (pictured above with Rex Hospital Open Co-Chairs Dr. Damian McHugh and Dick Harlow), whose score of 20-under (193) was a new tournament record for the first 54 holes.

Family Fun Zone at the Rex Hospital Open

The sun is out for a great third round Saturday. "Dads Day Out" offers free admission to dads and tons of kids activities in the Family Fun Zone.

Friday was all about the PINK at TPC Wakefield Plantation. In support of breast cancer awareness, the "Pink Zone" was full of great vendors offering fashion, crafts, accessories and more.

Teen Gets Wish Granted at Rex Hospital Open

As the Nationwide Tour pros were teeing off Thursday morning, an awards ceremony was already taking place for a local 14-year-old with muscular dystrophy.  Nathan Woodward was presented with a membership to TPC Wakefield Plantation, Titleist golf clubs and more, thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Dennis Walters and his four-legged "caddy" Bucky brought their inspirational show of comedy and trick shots to kids and parents at the Rex Hospital Open at TPC Wakefield Plantation on Tuesday.

Local Ladies & Pros Get the Pink Out

The 2010 Rex Hospital Open week "splashed" off Monday with a "Pink on the Links" Pro-Am featuring the unveiling of Rex's new Mobile Mammography Unit, some great golf and a whole lot of RAIN! 

Congrats to the winning team of Janet Striegel, Carole Walker, Susan Mitchell, Mary Williams and Brian Vranesh (Pro)

and services at Rex Hospital. For the first 17 years, the tournament was well known as the Rex

Classic, a one-day LPGA pro-am. It has now evolved into The Rex Hospital Open, an official week

long event on the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour, held for the sixth year at TPC Wakefield Plantation. The Nationwide Tour is great golf that provides an early look at the stars of tomorrow ....today.
