Emergency Billing Information
Billing for the Rex Emergency Department can come from two or more sources.
- Patients first receive a charge from Rex and then a separate charge from Raleigh Emergency Medicine Associates (REMA).
- If other services were warranted, further separate billings from Raleigh Radiology and Rex Pathology Associates might occur; these bills reflect the charges of other specialists who may have provided care or testing during your visit.

Raleigh Emergency Medicine Associates (REMA)
REMA is a private medical group of emergency medicine specialists that contracts with Rex Healthcare to provide services in the Rex Emergency Department. REMA personnel are not employed by Rex but work seamlessly with Rex nurses, technicians and other staff to provide high-quality care. This has been a longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship, and both REMA and Rex Healthcare are proud to have served many members of the community in times of emergency.
REMA's billing company has a local office close to the hospital.
