That's why the Rex Women's Center offers a comprehensive series of classes designed to help you with all aspects of pregnancy, delivery and beyond. Register Early! To be sure you are enrolled in classes that best suit your schedule and delivery date, you need to register early, especially for childbirth education classes. Preparing for ChildbirthChoose between a five-week series, one day, two half days, three Saturdays or three Sundays. Take during the third trimester to help you and your partner prepare for the birth of your first baby. This class covers relaxation, breathing techniques, medication, self-care and methods of childbirth. It includes our BabyCare class and a Rex Women's Center tour. Class offered at Rex Women's Center. Weeknights - Once a week for five weeks, Mon. - Thurs. evenings from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Weekends (limited availability, no sign language interpretation) - Choose from: - One day Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

$85 per couple Preparing for Childbirth ReviewRefresh your skills as seasoned parents. This class is designed for expectant parents who already have a child. It covers labor and delivery, breathing techniques and preparing siblings for the new arrival. Class offered at Rex Women's Center, two weeknights, once a week for two weeks from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. $45 per couple Labor SupportThis supplemental natural childbirth class will equip you and your partner to cope with and manage labor using your own natural resources and innate strength. Limited availability. This class is for "non-medicated" births only. Prerequisite required: Preparing for Childbirth Class offered at Rex Women's Center, one evening session, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. $20 per couple BabyCare BasicsAnswer the question, "What do I do now?" Topics include newborn characteristics, bathing and feeding. This class is offered within the Preparing for Childbirth class. If you are not taking the Preparing for Childbirth class, you may register for BabyCare separately. Limited availability. Class offered at Rex Women's Center. (This class is only offered once every two months.) One weeknight, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. $25 per couple Preparing to BreastfeedExpectant couples learn tips about breastfeeding. Led by a Rex R.N./board certified lactation consultant. Classes available in Raleigh and Cary. One weeknight, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. $25 per couple Friends & Family CPRReceive a basic orientation to CPR, chain of survival and obstructed airway techniques for parents, grandparents and other family members and friends. This course is not for certification. Classes available in Rex Women's Center, one session various weeknights, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Classes avaliable at Rex Wellness Centers, one session Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. $40 per person Big Brother/Big Sister ClassHelp the big brother or big sister prepare for the changes ahead. Classes are designed for children age three and over and are divided into age groups. Class includes a tour of Rex Women's Center (parents must accompany children). Class offered at Rex Women's Center. Saturday session, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. $5 per child Child Passenger Safety Seat ClassLearn how to correctly select, install, and use a child safety seat that is right for your child. Current recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as NC Law will be discussed. This 2-hour class meets once per month and is led by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Class is held at the Rex Women's Center. FREE Women's Center ToursCome take a walk-through tour of the Women's Center to learn about the facility and what to expect while you are here. Tours led by Rex Volunteers are held the first Tuesday and third Monday evenings as well as a "lunch time" tour each month. Some of the evening tour times include a childbirth film. Please let us know if you would like to see the film in addition to taking the tour. A tour of the Women's Center is included in the Preparing for Childbirth Class (5-week and weekend series) and the Sibling class. FREE Prenatal YogaBreathing techniques, movement and conscious relaxation are a part of this series to prepare moms for labor and delivery as well as maintain strength and flexibility. Yoga may help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve digestion and exercise the spine - which increases mom's comfort and relaxation. Written permission from your physician is required. No previous Pilates experience is necessary. Infant Massage (Postnatal)Learn about the emotional and health benefits of infant massage. Hands-on classes are taught by certified instructors. Class offered at Rex Women's Center, one weekday for four weeks, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. $40 per adult and baby for four classes Working and Breastfeeding (Postnatal Class)Taught by a board-certified lactation consultant, this class will teach moms how to adjust to returning to the workplace, pumping and the safe storage of breast milk. Class offered at Rex Women's Center. Usually offered the first Monday of the month from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. $5 per person Choosing Child Care SeminarWednesday, May 29, 7 - 8 p.m., Room 100-A Rex Family Birth Center Parents will learn what steps to take during your child care search; financial assistance available and tax credits; community resources; licensing regulations for childcare programs; and accreditation standards and key indicators of high quality. The seminar is presented by Child Care Service Association. Their nationally accredited resource and referral division assists families in the search for quality child care.
