RALEIGH, N.C. -  Rex Healthcare today announced it will offer additional ticket options and a new course layout to improve fan experience for its annual golf tournament, The Rex Hospital Open. A premier professional golf tournament and part of the Nationwide Tour, The Rex Hospital Open will be held at TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, June 9-12.

For the first time, the tournament is offering online ticket purchasing and a special hospitality option for purchase. The VIP Viewbox pass, available Thursday, June 9 through Sunday, June 12, provides access to reserved viewing areas on the ninth-, 11th-, 15th-, 16th- and 18th-hole greens. The pass also includes snacks and beverages for patrons. In an effort to improve accessibility and viewing options, TPC Wakefield Plantation will "flip the 9s" - switching the course's front nine holes and back nine holes.

"The fans and Triangle community have been ardent supporters of the Open and the Rex Hospital Foundation for many years. These enhancements to the tournament experience are just a few ways we can show our appreciation," said Carson Gilbert, Rex Hospital Open Tournament Director. "Online ticketing is an added convenience and the new course layout and ticketing options provides fans with the value and excitement they have come to expect from our tournament."

VIP Viewbox passes will be sold for $50 per day. Grounds passes are also available for $10, and one pass guarantees admission for the entire week. Patrons can purchase tickets online at www.rexhospitalopen.com or by calling (919) 531-4653. Children 17 years old and younger are admitted free. All active and former military, police, fire and EMS personnel are admitted free to the final round, Sunday, June 12, with proper identification, courtesy of Golden Corral and Rex Hospital.

The tournament raises funds to support programs and services at Rex Healthcare. Proceeds from this year's tournament will support the new N.C. Cancer Hospital at Rex.

As one of 26 events on the 2011 Nationwide Tour schedule, The Rex Hospital Open provides spectators a chance to see up-and-coming professional golfers compete for a chance to play on golf's greatest stage - the PGA TOUR. Two out of every three PGA TOUR players have Nationwide Tour roots. Nationwide Tour graduates have gone on to win 300 PGA TOUR events, including majors and PLAYERS Championships and have competed in Presidents and Ryder Cups.
