Cancer Rehab & Assessment
People undergoing cancer treatment often need skilled rehabilitation to help offset some of the health issues they face as a result of treatment or the cancer itself. Rex's Cancer Rehab & Assessment program is one way to help combat fatigue and other side effects brought on by chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and other cancer treatments.
This program allows physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists to work one-on-one with you throughout your cancer treatment to provide physical assistance, respite and relief.
Sessions will involve a skilled evaluation by a licensed physical, occupational or speech therapist. They will assess your range of motion, strength and endurance levels, as well as speech, language or swallowing capabilities as necessary. Extensive education on exercise, community resources, llymphedema prevention and energy conservation will be a central component of each visit. Your therapist will ensure that you actively participate in all aspects of your care and recovery.
All cancer patients are welcome in this program. You are encouraged to join the program at any point in your treatment and recovery. Typically, you may only need one or two visits. However, each patient is different. Your therapist will determine if further treatment is needed on a case by case basis. Cancer Rehab & Assessment should be covered by your insurance as traditional outpatient rehabilitation.
