How do I make an appointment?
The main telephone number at Rex Cancer Center is (919) 784-3105. Our receptionist will direct you to offices of either Rex Hematology Oncology Associates or the offices of Rex/UNC Radiation Oncology Services. If possible, it is helpful to have your physician make the referral for you so we can get your medical records from his or her office prior to your visit.

For your convenience, you can download the New Patient form. Print and complete the form. Then bring it with you to your first appointment.
How do I deal with insurance claims for office visits and other services?
Simply bring your insurance card(s) on your first visit, and we will file all insurance claims for you.
What if I don't have insurance coverage?
If you have no insurance, our financial counselor is available to help you set up a payment schedule. Our financial counselor will work with you individually to locate resources and help you get in contact with agencies that can provide you with some assistance.
Who do I contact in case of an emergency?
We recognize that emergency situations do arise, and we will do everything in our power to respond to your problem as quickly as possible.

The answering service will promptly forward your message to the doctor on call. If you do not receive a return call within 15 minutes, call again. If an emergency arises while the office is open, please call the office as early in the day as possible and you will be seen as quickly as possible.
In the event of an emergency, call 911.
How am I going to be billed?
Deductibles and co-insurance balances will be billed monthly. Balances for hospital-based charges are billed every six months.
Do I need a referral? If so, how do I obtain one?
If your insurance requires a referral from your primary care provider, it is your responsibility to obtain one before the date of service. We will notify you by phone the day before your appointment if you need to get an updated referral.
You can bring a referral with you when you come for your appointment, or you can have your primary care physician's office fax it to us at the appropriate office.
