Q: This is my first time applying for a position at Rex. How do I apply?
A:  Applying for a job at Rex is as easy as 1-2-3. 

  • First, click on Apply for Jobs - External Applicant
  • Next, on the Employment Center page, click on Sign In.  From here, select Create a User ID and Password. 
  • After creating a user ID and password, you can begin to create your personal employment profile by clicking on Add/Update My Profile.  Be as thorough as possible, including all personal information, work history, education, certifications, and references.  An incomplete work history can impact starting salary if you are selected for a position.
  • Now you are ready to search for a job by clicking Browse Jobs or Build a Job Search. 
  • If you find a job that interests you and is a match with your experience, skills, and abilities, click on Apply for this Position. 
  • Answer all the pre-screen questions.  You may also attach supporting documents such as a resume.
  • Upon review of your information, click Submit.  Your application will then be forwarded to our Human Resources Department for review.

Q: How do I apply to additional positions once I have already entered my online employment profile (application)?
A: The first step is to Browse Jobs or Build a Job Search. If y ou find a job that interests you and is a match with your experience, skills, and abilities, click on Apply for this Position. Answer all the pre-screen questions and click Submit. Back to Top

Q: How do I check the status of my employment profile (application)?
A: Once you have completed the employment profile (application), you can log in and check its status at any time. In addition to your profile, you will also be provided a list of all positions that you have applied for along with the status for each.

Q: How do I add information to my employment profile (application) or apply again?
A: When you apply for a healthcare job at Rex, you can update your employment profile (application) as needed by logging in to the system using your ID and Password. Click on Add/Update My Profile or My Info Home to view and/or edit your profile, then save changes in each section before viewing the next section. Please note that once an application has been submitted for a specific position, the employment profile (application) for that position cannot be updated.

Q: How long will my employment profile (application) remain on file?
A: Your employment profile will remain on file for at least one year. In order for a HR professional or manager to view your profile, you must attach your employment profile (application) to an open requisition by applying to an open position.

Q: Do you accept resumes or paper applications?
A: After entering an online employment profile (application) and applying for an open position, you will have the option to attach an electronic copy of your resume. Paper applications are not accepted.

Q: Is it necessary for me to have an e-mail address to apply for positions at Rex?
A: No, it is not necessary for you to have an e-mail address to apply for positions. However, Human Resources or the Hiring Manager may use email as a method of communicating with you. While not required, an email address is recommended. Back to Top

Q: How current is the job listing?
A: The positions open at Rex are posted and available to applicants in real-time. This means that our list of open positions is always current and up-to-date.

Q: When do positions close?
A: At the point a manager is ready to make a job offer to a candidate, applicants will no longer have the ability to view or apply for that position.

Q: How long will it take for me to be contacted after I've applied?
A: Because Rex Healthcare receives a large volume of applications each day, we are unable to personally contact each applicant. If a hiring manager believes that your skills and experience are a match with his/her needs and would like to discuss the employment opportunity with you further, you will be contacted via telephone or e-mail to schedule an appointment.

Q: Can I apply for more than one position?
A: Absolutely! We realize that you may be qualified for more than one of our opportunities and welcome your application. We do encourage you to carefully review the job responsibilities and requirements of an open position prior to submitting your application and apply to only those positions for which you are qualified.

Q: What does "withdraw application" mean next to my status?
A: If you decide that you no longer wish to be considered for a position for which you have applied, you can withdraw your application. To do so, log in to the system using your ID and Password. Click on View My Application Status, locate the job for which you would like to withdraw your application, then click on Withdraw Application next to the position.

Q: What is a job alert and how do I set one up?
A: A job alert allows you to receive an e-mail each time a preferred position at Rex Healthcare becomes available. To set up a Job Alert, log into the system and click on the Update My Job Alerts section. Search for the type of position you prefer and Save the Search. Back to Top

Q: What do I do if I forget my user ID and/or password?
A: If you have an e-mail address, you can select the "forgot password" icon on the Employment Center login page. Simply enter your e-mail address and your ID and password will be e-mailed to you. If you do not have an e-mail address, call the Human Resources department at (919) 784-3169.

Q: How long do I have to complete my profile?
A: There is a 40-minute time limit to complete a profile. It is helpful to gather information related to your previous employment before starting your process. As you complete each section of the profile, please remember to save your information before moving on to the next section. If you are interrupted while completing your profile, save the information you have entered, log off and return to the website at a later time to complete your profile.

Q: My information (address, phone number, e-mail address) has changed. How do I update it in the system?
A: You can update your contact information on the employment profile (application) by logging into the Employment Center from the careers homepage and selecting My Profile. Changes can be made to the Contact Information section of your profile. After entering changes to your contact information, select Save Changes at the bottom of the section.

Q: Do I have to apply for a specific position?
A: Yes. Many different positions are available at Rex with varying responsibilities and shifts. It is necessary for you to apply for a specific position in order to be considered for employment at Rex.

Q: Why was I not selected for a position?
A: Managers consider many factors when reviewing applicants and strive to hire people who most closely meet the requirements of the job. While more than one candidate may meet those requirements, managers have to make difficult decisions when determining to whom a position will be offered. We unfortunately do not have the ability to hire all the excellent people who are interested in working at Rex.

Q: Would having a criminal record affect one's chance of getting a job with Rex?
A: Applicants with a criminal record are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Be honest and forthright concerning your background during the interview and application process. Applicants that are found to have falsified their application will be rejected.

Q: Is it mandatory to work shifts and/or weekends?
A: Rex Healthcare must operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to provide excellent care for our valued patients. Shift work and weekend schedules are mandatory for many positions. Please review the schedule requirements stated for each specific position.
