Community Partnerships

Rex as a Community Partner

It is our mission to make a positive impact on health wellness initiatives in our community. Rex Healthcare is dedicated to forming partnerships with community groups. These collaborative efforts aim to benefit all in the Wake County area by providing both education and preventative care to promote a healthful lifestyle.

Rex and the American Heart Association (AHA) together raise heart disease awareness for women through the Go Red campaign. This campaign aims to offer support to mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends, while educating individuals currently living with heart disease.

Rex and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) have come together for events including the Light the Night Walk, an annual event aimed to raise money for cancer research and patient services. The Rex Healthcare Walk Team has raised more than $55,000 to fund blood cancer research and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Rex has partnered up with the Raleigh Junior League Kids on the Block program. Kids on the Block is an educational puppet show presented to elementary-aged students in a fun, nurturing way to inspire tolerance and an understanding of others. Specific topics addressed include: blindness, cerebral palsy, bullying, and learning disabilities.

Rex and the Open Door Clinic of Wake County work together to provide high-quality care services, education, and medications to more than 5,000 patients in the community. It is a joint mission to provide these services to adults in Wake County who lack adequate income, insurance coverage, or other means to obtain access to health care.

The Rex Mobile Mammography Unit, made possible through generous funding from Revlon, is another example of a partnership success. Since 2001, the Mammography Unit has provided screenings to more than 22,000 women. Traveling to local businesses, churches, schools and civic groups, the unit offers women state-of-the-art digital technology for early cancer detection.

Rex and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure - NC Triangle Affiliate have come together to raise awareness and support breast cancer research in Wake County. Rex supports the annual Komen Triangle Race for the Cure® event and has received grants of nearly $200,000 from the organization. More than 1,000 women have directly benefited from these funds which support screening/diagnostic mammography procedures and breast ultrasounds on the Mobile Mammography Unit and in the Rex Breast Care Center.
