RALEIGH, N.C. - Rex Healthcare will host a grand opening celebration for the new Wellness Center of Knightdale on Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center's opening festivities will focus on healthy activities with an Olympics theme in honor of the 2012 Summer Olympics, being held in London July 27-Aug. 12.
David Fox, who was a member of the swim team at North Carolina State University and won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, will join the celebration to sign autographs, share his story and help officially open the facility to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
"The Rex Healthcare system is something I relied on for much of my life. I was born at Rex Hospital and spent countless hours conditioning and training at a Rex Wellness Center, both during college and after, as I prepared for the Olympic Games," said Fox, who also claims seven Atlantic Coast Conference championships and one NCAA national championship. "A Rex Wellness Center is an important part of a community as it helps people live better, longer and healthier lives. I am excited to help celebrate the grand opening of Rex's latest facility and hope that the upcoming Olympic Games will inspire local citizens to engage and use the great resources the Center offers."
The Rex event will also feature entertainment, activities for families, give-aways and more. Rex Wellness Center of Knightdale is the fifth Rex Wellness Center in Wake County (the others are in Raleigh, Cary, Wakefield and Garner). The 32,000-square-foot facility will provide members with personalized training, rehabilitation and health education programs. Amenities will include modern fitness equipment, swimming pool, whirlpool, steam room, sauna, indoor track and group exercise studios.
"We're excited to provide this state-of-the-art wellness facility to serve people in Knightdale and the surrounding community," said Rex Chief Operating Officer Steve Burriss. "We are committed to providing quality healthcare and preventive care to the Triangle area, and this is one more way to support the health needs of our community."
