HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C., and INDIANAPOLIS - The recently opened Rex Healthcare of Holly Springs medical office building (MOB) has reached an important sustainability and design milestone by attaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) certification.

LEED, a building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), evaluates six different areas of environmental and energy significance: sustainable sites; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources; indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot Holly Springs MOB, developed and owned by Indianapolis-based Duke Realty, was evaluated using the LEED Core and Shell (LEED-CS v2009) scorecard.
