Rex Heart and Vascular Center is proud to host a chapter of Mended Hearts, a nationally-driven informational and educational support group for our patients and their loved ones. Mended Hearts is affiliated with the American Heart Association.
Mended Hearts members have two main objectives:
- To train members to visit newly diagnosed cardiovascular patients at Rex Hospital
- To provide ongoing education and support for cardiovascular patients during monthly meetings
Support groups such as Mended Hearts are an excellent complement to medical care. They provide education and information to positively influence the fight against illness and help patients improve their well being. Sharing experiences can help patients and their spouses deal with cardiovascular disease. Currently, Rex's Mended Hearts is the only support group of its kind in Wake County.
Meetings are held the third Monday of each month (except December) with social time beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Mended Hearts meets on the main Rex Hospital campus in the Cardiac Rehab area at 4420 Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh in the Birth Center.
A new topic is presented each month from featured speakers. Cardiac survivors and their friends and family members are welcome to attend.
