2012 Rex Gala

On November 10, 2012, nearly 800 guests celebrated at the 25th Anniversary of the Rex Gala, appropriately titled, “Wild About Rex.”  This year’s co-chairs, Drs. James Zidar and Michael Zellinger, inspired the crowd by introducing John Edens, 86. Mr. Edens, a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) patient, was able to dance at his granddaughter’s wedding thanks to this innovative, successful surgery performed at Rex.

Entertainment featured fire dancers, African drums and tribal sounds. Everyone had a WILD time bidding on auction items, sampling food and dancing late into the evening. Money raised at the Gala will benefit Rex heart and vascular Programs, a passion shared by many in the crowd resulting in record breaking revenues! The audience wasted little time in raising $50,000 during the call for donations. Totals show $343,628 in revenue, soaring above the $310,000 goal!

To help keep Rex's Heart and Vascular program ahead of the curve, this funding will supply advanced imaging equipment, continued training for our expert specialists, cardiologists and nurses, as well as patient assistance. From ensuring a close comfortable hotel room for a patient’s family to performing heart screenings on high school football players, this funding will make a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Grand total raised: $343,628
