RALEIGH, N.C. - Rex Healthcare has won a Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation (NRC) for the sixth straight year. The award recognizes hospitals that consumers have chosen for having the highest quality and reputation in more than 300 markets across the country.
Rex is the only hospital in Wake County to win the distinction and one of 10 in North Carolina. The recognition is based on surveys of more than 250,000 households across the country.
"This award is a testament to the quality of health care at Rex and the commitment of our co-workers to consistently provide the highest level of care," said Dr. Linda Butler, Rex's chief medical officer. "When people have a choice, they choose Rex. We're proud to be Wake County's preferred health-care provider."
Founded in 1981, NRC's mission is to improve the quality of health care received by patients and consumers. The organization's studies focus on continual improvement in patient experience and performance measurement within the health-care industry.
The Consumer Choice Award is based on scores that include Best Overall Quality, Best Doctors, Best Nurses and Best Image/Reputation.
"In a constantly changing health-care industry, consumer perception is becoming more and more vital to the success of all hospitals," said Susan L. Henricks, NRC president. "The Consumer Choice Award recognizes those facilities that are meeting or exceeding the needs of consumers - their patients."
