RALEIGH, N.C. - The Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Open will host a free Kids' Clinic on Tuesday, May 29, in conjunction with The First Tee of the Triangle, an organization aimed at teaching young people to golf while building character.
The clinic, which is free and open to the public, will be held at TPC Wakefield Plantation from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Nationwide players, First Tee volunteers and GolfTEC teaching professionals will work together to lead small group instruction.
The First Tee of the Triangle aims to build character through golf and integrates positive values in its teaching. "We will touch on our Nine Core Values during the clinic," said T.D. Leuten, executive director of The First Tee of the Triangle. "Kids can learn a lot more than just golf."
Space is limited to the first 100 participants and registration is required. To register, visit www.thefirstteetriangle.org.
The Open takes place the week of May 31 - June 3 and has an even stronger focus on fan experience. In addition to the Kids' Clinic, this year's event includes expanded public seating on the 18th Hole's "Hurricanes Bench" and new food vendors. Other family friendly activities include:
- Saturday, May 26: The Rex Hospital Open 8K Road Race and Family Fun Run
- Sunday, May 27: The Junior Invitational, featuring talented young golfers
- Saturday, June 2: Family Fun Day
- Sunday, June 3: Military Appreciation Day
The Rex Hospital Open has raised more than $6.2 million to support programs and services at Rex Hospital. This year's proceeds will benefit Rex Cancer Care - supporting patients from discovery through recovery.
