RALEIGH, N.C. - Rex Healthcare's Healthy Way Program has received an award of merit from the Medical Fitness Association (MFA), an association focused on hospital fitness and wellness. This award recognized two Rex coworkers for significant contributions in defining benchmarks for the medical fitness industry: Ashley Honeycutt, RD, LDN, manager of Corporate and Community services; and Shelly Wegman, MS, RD, LDN, registered dietitian; both of Rex Wellness Centers.
"As new developments in technology and practices improve medical fitness, it is important that we continue to raise the standards in order to provide the highest level of care to our clients," said Honeycutt. "We are honored to be recognized by the MFA for our work."
The Healthy Way program is designed to provide participants with practical tools for improving their health status and to assist them in recognizing and overcoming barriers to change. Over twelve weeks, with the guidance of licensed, registered dietitians and certified wellness instructors, program participants have been able to show statistically significant changes in body mass index, weight and other biometric measures during the 12-week period.
Rex received this award on Jan. 12 at the 16th Annual MFA Medical Fitness Conference in San Diego, Calif. The MFA is a member-driven nonprofit organization. Its mission is to foster opportunities for the development and operational success of medically integrated fitness centers. MFA provides industry standards, educational programs, benchmarks, outcome measurements, professional development and networking opportunities for the medical fitness industry.
