Community Events

Rex Healthcare offers its services outside the walls of the hospital by participating in local community initiatives throughout the year.

The 2012 Community Health Screening Day was a partnership designed to address the greatest health needs in our community. Available screenings included blood pressure, glucose, balance, body mass index and cholesterol. Other services included "Ask the Experts", community agencies who provided educational information, and free immunizations.

The Prostate Education Community Rally was a day designated to promote prostate cancer support and awareness. It is a goal of Rex Healthcare to provide patients with education and information about clinical treatment and screenings, while increasing awareness in the community.

Rex partnered with Safe Kids North Carolina and law enforcement agencies to host the annual Operation Medicine Drop. Co-workers and local law enforcement staffed drop-off sites to properly discard unwanted or expired over-the-counter and prescription medications. In October of 2012, the Rex Express Care sites helped collect more than 110,000 dosages of medication, reducing the risk of accidental poisoning and other problems.

Rex Healthcare was present at the June, 15, 2013 “Innovations in Health Day” held at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. This event consisted of a large lineup of presentations, exhibits, and hands-on activities to engage the whole family. “Innovations in Health Day” highlights innovative medical treatments and aims to educate the community about advances in health science.

Rex participates in many blood services around the area. In 2012, Rex Healthcare was a part of the Save Our Summer blood drive. This 8th annual event had the highest turnout to date with over 200 donors who participated. The units collected on this single day went to over 515 patients.

Rex was present at the First Responders Thank You Lunch, hosted by the Morrisville Chamber on June 3, 2013. The luncheon served as a “thank you” to honor Morrisville's police, fire teams, and EMS for all of their hard work and dedication to the Morrisville community.

We are always seeking new ways to promote healthy lifestyles. Rex Healthcare sponsors the Crabtree Valley Mall Walkers and their mission to increase physical activity. Involvement in the Walkers’ Club is a great way to incorporate walking as part of your exercise routine, no matter what fitness level you may be. The club organizes daily walking hours, along with monthly meetings. Health seminars hosted by Rex are held the third Thursday of each month. To sign up, visit the Mall Walkers Club page.
