Community Education & Outreach
Education, prevention and early detection are important in the fight against cancer. At UNC REX Cancer Care, we have a dedicated team of staff members and volunteers who participate in cancer outreach throughout the community.

Brothers and Sisters of Rex
Brothers and Sisters of Rex is a volunteer group that provides the community with information about prevention and early detection of breast, prostate and colorectal cancers.
This group of specially trained volunteers is made up of both men and women, many of whom are cancer survivors. They provide information and education at workshops, health fairs, businesses, churches, community service groups and other events.
Save Our Sisters of Rex
Save Our Sisters of Rex is a group of specially trained volunteers who have made a commitment to provide the community with breast health information, resources and support. Many members of the Save Our Sisters team are breast cancer survivors.
The group’s goal is to increase awareness of breast cancer and to promote age-appropriate mammogram screenings throughout the community. They provide education and information at workshops, businesses, community service groups, health fairs and churches.
Early Detection Workshops
Early detection workshops are designed to educate adults about the importance of early cancer detection. These interactive workshops and presentations are led by members of Save Our Sisters of Rex, Brothers and Sisters of Rex, specially trained health instructors and registered nurses. These sessions can be customized to fit the needs of your group, business or place of worship.
