Cancer Rehabilitation

When you are undergoing cancer treatment, you often need skilled rehabilitation to help offset some of the health issues you face as a result of treatment or the cancer itself. Our cancer rehabilitation program, in collaboration with UNC REX Cancer Care, is designed to combat fatigue and other side effects brought on by chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and other cancer treatments. Cancer rehabilitation includes a skilled evaluation by a licensed physical, occupational or speech therapist. They assess your range of motion, strength and endurance levels, as well as speech, language or swallowing capabilities as needed. Our therapists take a special interest in helping improve the quality of life for cancer patients. They work one-on-one with you and provide extensive education and strategies to help you with the following issues:

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Lymphedema
  • Decreased strength and range of motion
  • Inability to perform daily activities
  • Chemo brain
Rex Cancer Rehab

We encourage cancer patients to join the program at any point in treatment and recovery. You may need only one or two visits, but each patient is different. Your therapist will determine if further treatment is needed on a case-by-case basis.

For your convenience, cancer rehab-related physical therapy is offered at all four of our convenient locations, Raleigh, Cary, Garner and Wakefield. You can also learn more about cancer treatments and services available at UNC REX Cancer Care.
