The Society of Chest Pain Centers designated Rex Hospital as an Accredited Chest Pain Center in 2005 for its community education programs and expertise in diagnosing and treating acute coronary syndromes and heart failure. The designation as an Accredited Chest Pain Center, which was the first for a hospital in the Triangle, establishes Rex Healthcare as a premier hospital for acute cardiac care in this area. It also communicates that the hospital offers a full-spectrum emergency cardiac care program, offering rapid diagnosis and fast track treatment, often preventing a severe heart attack from occurring.
