Yoga ClassesBeginning/Continuing Yoga In the beginning/continuing class the focus is on building body awareness, flexibility, strength, endurance and balance. Traditional yoga has been known to improve mental focus and clarity, create an inner calm, as well as improve some chronic physical issues and be a preventative measure. Traditional yoga is more than a physical exercise; it is a whole body/mind practice. This class series is a 10-week session. Cost is $90 for members; $110 for non-members.
Prenatal Hatha This class is designed to provide the experience and enjoyment of yoga for expectant mothers throught their entire pregnancy. This prenatal series helps to gently strengthen the uterus and pelvis muscles, improve digestion and promote spine mobility; all of which will increase comfort and enhance relaxation. The breathing techniques, postures and conscious relaxation learned in class promote a healthy pregnancy and help prepare for labor and delivery. A doctors note is required to participate. The class is a six-week session. Cost is $54 for members; $66 for non-members.
Postnatal Hatha Yoga Now is the time to start taking care of mommy! The first six weeks ar intense for new moms. Begin the jouney to your pre-pregnancy shape by reducing stress levels, gaining strength and stamina. This forty-five minute class is suited for moms that are six weeks through two years post-natal. Class begins with a cardiovascular focus, moving into total body strength and flexibility, with emphasis onn the core to reduce post-partum back/shoulder/neck pain an increase core strength. The session concludes with a refocus and relaxation time. The class is a six-week session. Cost is $54 for members; $66 for non-members.
Mommy & Me Yoga Postnatal yoga for moms and babies has several benefits including a gentle and effective practice to tone/strengthen your body that supports recovery from the stresses of giving birth, a great way to have fun with your baby, a practice that eases the stress of sleep deprivation and promoting confidence in your new role. You will enjoy some special one-on-one time with your baby while also having your physical and emotional needs met. Babies will enjoy the attention while receiving gentle massage that encourages their natural flexibility and growth. Come join other moms and babies for a special yoga class in a very supportive, nurturing, and fun atmosphere. Note: Babies 6 weeks to 6 months who are NOT yet mobile are invited to attend. Chair Yoga Do you have difficulty getting up from the floor? This class is tailored for the newbie and those with limitations and poor balance. Improve posture, range of motion, joint mobility and stabiliy, flexibility, strength and balance. Develop core strength, decrease back pain, increase lung capacity and assist with mental clarity and function. Each class ends with restorative relaxation. Power Yoga This Vinyasa yoga class is characterized by flowing movements synchronized with the breath. Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi for Fall Prevention & Intermediate Tai Chi Tai chi is an evidence based exercise. It helps to prevent falls and improve health and the quality of life. The objective of tai chi is to achieve physical balance by strengthening muscles and improving coordination, ehile at the same time improving mental balance.
Practicing the principles is how tai chi works. Tai chi movements are slow, smooth and continuous, helping to strengthen internal muscles, like the the deep stabilizers that support and strengthen the spine. Slow and smooth movements calm the mind. Tai chi practitioners are mindful, in addition to emphasis on upright and suple posture, further stregthens muscles. Tai chi is an internal art, wich stresses the integration and balance of mind and body. Tai chi practitioners focus, calm their minds, and loosen and relax their joints and ligaments. Scientific studies shows that it helps chronic conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, respiratory disease,s and diabetes. Tai Chi also improves balance, prevents falls and reduces stress. In this class you will learn a yang style beginner's set of 7 movements, warm-ups/cool-down exercises, and ai gong breathing. This class is great for all levels.
