RALEIGH, N.C. - Rex Bariatric Specialists has received national recognition for its weight-loss surgery program.
The practice, led by Drs. Peter C. Ng and Lindsey S. Sharp, is now designated as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the independent, nonprofit American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
The Center of Excellence program, started in 2004, reviews all aspects of bariatric surgeons and facilities to ensure their safety and efficacy. Rex Hospital previously met the ASMBS' stringent requirements and earned the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence distinction. The program is designed to help patients pick the facilities that provide the highest quality, most cost-effective care.
Rex Bariatric Specialists uses bariatric surgery as one component in providing comprehensive treatment and care for its weight-loss patients, including pre- and post-surgery nutrition counseling, support group meetings and more.
"Dr. Sharp and I work hard to make sure that our patients have the tools and support for successful weight loss and lifetime weight management," Dr. Ng said. "The Center of Excellence designation is great recognition for our program and staff and something that patients can use when evaluating a weight-loss surgery program."
