Medical Fitness Association Announces National Award Winner
RICHMOND, V.A.–The Medical Fitness Association (MFA) is proud to announce Mr. Neil Byrd, FMFA as the winner of the Hank Boerner Pioneer Award at its annual conference held in San Diego, CA November 20-22, 2013.
“MFA is thrilled to have such strong leaders dedicated to helping their communities become healthier through medically based fitness programs. We are proud to recognize centers and individuals who are making a difference through the provision of individualized fitness programs and services that impact lifestyle-related chronic diseases within their community”, said Bob Boone, President and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association.
The award was presented by Hank's widow, Helen Boerner during MFA’s Twenty-Second Annual Conference. The Hank Boerner Pioneer Award is given to an individual who has significantly advanced the medical fitness industry through his service to the industry and the association.
Neil Byrd, FMFA is the Director of Wellness Services, at Rex Wellness Centers in Raleigh, NC where he has faithfully served his community and the industry in numerous capacities over the years with the MFA. He is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors and has been instrumental in orchestrating the recent merger with the Southeast Hospital Health and Fitness Association. He is recognized as a giant in the industry for his innovative, high quality programming and outstanding leadership at all levels of the industry from his local centers to the National Board of Directors.Neil is the epitome of professionalism and he is frequently asked to provide the benefit of his experience and wisdom in strategic matters throughout the United States.
