Raleigh Orthopaedic Surgery Center Opens, Offering New Outpatient Option

Joint Venture between Rex and Raleigh Orthopaedic Creates Jobs in West Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. – Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic and Rex Healthcare are proud to announce the opening of the Raleigh Orthopaedic Surgery Center, a one-stop outpatient facility offering a wide range of orthopedic care and services involving knees, feet, shoulders, hips, wrists and more.

The 27,707-square-foot surgery center is a unique joint venture between a private physicians' group and a hospital. Created to provide a wide range of orthopedic services, including surgery, digital X-ray, MRI, physical therapy and urgent care in an outpatient setting, the facility will give thousands of patients each year easier access to high-quality, cost-effective orthopedic services.

"There really isn't anything else like this in Raleigh, or even across North Carolina," said Hadley Callaway, M.D., President of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic. "It will be a destination for comprehensive orthopedic care."

Raleigh Orthopaedic Surgery Center is located at 3001 Edwards Mill Road, between Duraleigh Road and Wade Avenue, near Rex's main Raleigh campus. The center houses four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. It is located on the first floor of a four-story, 98,000-square-foot building that will also be the new home for Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic's main offices later this summer. The surgery center also will be an economic engine, initially creating about 30 full-time jobs.

"This partnership of Rex and Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic will improve care for all orthopedic patients for years to come," said Steve Burriss, Rex's chief operating officer. "We are excited to have two organizations known for their excellent care and experience working together on what we anticipate will be a new model for outpatient surgery centers."
