The Hockey Fights Cancer program was formed by the National Hockey League (NHL) and National Hockey League Players’ Association to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Through the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, the NHL's US and Canadian charitable foundations and NHL supporters and fans have donated more than $18 million to support national and local cancer research institutions, children's hospitals, player charities and local cancer organizations.

The REX Hospital Open is part of the PGA TOUR’S Korn Ferry Tour and held on the breathtaking course at TPC Wakefield Plantation. It has become a North Carolina destination and a tradition that draws thousands of spectators in support of a great cause. The annual charity golf tournament brings more than 150 professional golfers from around the world to Raleigh.
Throughout the years, the REX Open has raised over $9 million for charity initiatives at UNC REX including Patient Assistance Funds, Mobile Mammography and Mobile H&V units, the NC Heart & Vascular Hospital on the main Rex Campus and Neurological Services at UNC REX Healthcare through the UNC REX Foundation.
