Rex Named One of Top 100 Hospitals

Publication Highlights Rex's Bariatric Center of Excellence and Leadership in Robotics

RALEIGH, N.C. – Rex Healthcare is honored to be named one of the country's "100 Great Hospitals" by Becker's Hospital Review, the only hospital in Wake County to receive the designation. The list recognizes hospitals that have demonstrated innovation in medical treatments, research, technology and care delivery. Ranked hospitals are home to medical breakthroughs and act as anchors of health within their respective communities.

Becker's Hospital Review noted that Rex has pioneered several medical programs in the greater Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region and North Carolina, such as establishing the first bariatric center of excellence and becoming the first hospital to complete 2,000 robotic procedures. Additionally, Becker's emphasized that Rex was named to HealthGrades' list of America's 50 Best Hospitals in 2013, ranking it among the top 1 percent of hospitals in the nation.

"Thanks to the expertise and compassion demonstrated daily by our co-workers and physicians, Rex continues to receive national recognition for our excellent patient care," said Rex chief operating officer Steve Burriss. "This ranking by Becker’s Hospital Review puts us among some of the most elite hospitals in the country."

To select the recipients, Becker's conducted research and considered other reputable hospital ranking sources such as U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals, HealthGrades, Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the Studer Group and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients. Hospitals cannot pay for inclusion in any Becker's Hospital Review list.

The list appears in the May print edition of Becker's Hospital Review.
