Rex Healthcare Foundation Announces New Leadership Council

Council Enlists Community Leaders to Support Care and Services at Rex Hospital

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Rex Healthcare Foundation has created a Foundation Leadership Council to enlist the expertise of passionate community leaders. The council's mission is to identify, engage and solicit donor prospects for financial support of Rex's programs and initiatives and improve care for all patients.

Inaugural members include Chairman Richard L. Daugherty, Maureen G. Alexander, Louis C. Arp III, Mary Susan Fulghum, M.D., Richard S. Myers, M.D., Robert Thomas, Florence B. Winston, Sherry C. Worth and G. Smedes York.

"No community is going to be great without a great hospital," said Daugherty, who previously was IBM's top executive in North Carolina. "Because I think Rex is so important to the quality of life in our community, I've decided to direct my energies toward creating a strong future for Rex. We know so many people whose lives have been touched by the excellent care at Rex, and we are proud to be part of that."

"The Rex family could not be more excited about welcoming the Foundation Leadership Council to our team," said Amy Daniels, Executive Director of the Rex Healthcare Foundation. "We look forward to sharing more about the Foundation with these community members and partnering with them to help increase local engagement around programs that support Rex Healthcare and our mission of quality care. We are honored to have such a stellar group of individuals working on our behalf."

The Foundation Leadership Council involves a two-year term of service that can be extended. Members may include individuals, corporations or family foundations. Founded in 1958, the Rex Healthcare Foundation supports essential programs and services at Rex. Thanks to the generosity of friends, neighbors and co-workers, the Foundation raised more than $2.3 million during fiscal year 2012.
