Rex Welcomes Breast Surgeon Dr. Rachel Goble to its Comprehensive Breast Care Program
RALEIGH, N.C – Rex Healthcare is proud to announce the addition of fellowship-trained breast surgeon Dr. Rachel Goble to the team of specialists who provide compassionate care for thousands of patients every year through the Rex Comprehensive Breast Care Program.
Dr. Goble has joined a dedicated group of physicians, clinicians and support staff with the training, expertise and compassion to help women with prevention, education, diagnosis, treatment and recovery. She is part of Rex Surgical Specialists and works closely with other breast surgeons, oncologists and specialists at Rex Cancer Center.
"Rex physicians share a passion for providing excellent care for all patients, and we know that Dr. Goble will be an important addition to our oncology and surgery teams," said Vickie Byler, director of Rex Cancer Center.
Dr. Goble completed her breast surgical oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., after her general surgery internship and residency at Kettering Health Network, Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. She also received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Kentucky and her medical degree from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Goble shared her thoughts on joining Rex, why she enjoys helping patients and more. Here are some highlights:
On what led her to breast surgery and surgical oncology:
I have always loved the field of surgery and helping others through difficult times. Becoming a breast surgical oncologist brought those two loves together. Hearing a diagnosis of cancer changes your life forever. I treat all of my patients like family and reassure them that we will get through this together.
On the most rewarding aspects of what she does:
Without a doubt, the most rewarding aspect of my profession is helping my patients through their trials in this life and letting them know they are never alone. Breast cancer is very scary, but I will be with them the whole way.
On the most important tips she gives patients in terms of prevention and breast health:
Prevention is the key! Women should start performing breast self exams in their 20s, have a clinical breast exam by a physician every 1-3 years starting at age 25, and have annual clinical breast exams and annual mammograms beginning at age 40. Always alert your doctor of any concerning changes in your breasts.
On why she chose Rex:
Rex is an amazing health care system and offers state-of-the-art breast care. Rex Surgical Specialists is an incredible group of physicians who truly care for their patients and their well-being. I felt that Rex Surgical Specialists, Rex Hospital and the Research Triangle area offered the perfect environment for which to give compassionate, outstanding breast cancer care.
