Joey Garber Edges Out Competition to Win the 2018 REX Hospital Open at TPC Wakefield
With a score of 18-under par, Garber won the Web.com TOUR event by one stroke
RALEIGH, N.C. – Joey Garber won the 2018 REX Hospital Open on a sunny Sunday afternoon at TPC Wakefield, shooting 18-under par to take home the trophy for the Web.com TOUR event.
Garber, 26, is a native of Petoskey, Mich., and played college golf at the University of Georgia. Garber finished the four-day Rex Hospital Open with a score of 266, or 18-under par. He topped Hank Lebioda and Scott Langley, who tied for second with 17-under par.
“I feel very humbled to win this tournament,” Garber said. “On Tuesday morning, I got to visit some inspiring patients at UN C REX, in the heart hospital. They instilled in me what it means to be positive and persevere. That’s what I tried to do this week.”
The victory gave Garber a $117,000 top prize and moves him closer to securing his PGA TOUR card. The top 25 money leaders on the Web.com TOUR earn a chance to play on the PGA TOUR.
