– July 10, 2018 – UNC REX Healthcare has named Ernie Bovio as its new Chief Operating Officer. Bovio, who currently serves as CEO of High Point Regional, will begin his new role at UNC REX on Sept. 2.

Bovio has had a long and successful career in hospital management in Texas and elsewhere. In 2014, he took over as CEO of High Point Regional and led that organization through several years of growth, clinical improvement and financial stability as part of the UNC Health Care system.

His compassion for serving patients and supporting co-workers and physicians will make him an asset to our growing organization for years to come.”

At UNC REX, Bovio will oversee daily operations, several joint venture relationships and many other areas.

“I’m looking forward to joining the team at UNC REX, one of the best hospitals in North Carolina,” Bovio said. “UNC REX is committed to improving access and reducing the cost of care during an important time in the world of health care. I look forward to contributing to this organization’s mission.”
