UNC Health Rex Named to Money's Best Hospitals 2026 List
UNC Health Rex has been named one of the nation’s top hospitals, ranking #42 on Money magazine’s “Best Hospitals 2026” list. Rex is one of just two hospitals in North Carolina to make the list.
The 2026 Best Hospitals list recognizes just 75 hospitals nationwide that earned Money’s highest overall ratings, based on a scorecard balancing clinical quality with the hospital's billing and pricing practices to highlight facilities that are transparent with their cost of care.
To determine the rankings, the Money team analyzed more than 100,000 data points across approximately 4,000 acute-care hospitals. Top-performing hospitals demonstrated exceptional clinical outcomes and hold either a four- or five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The analysis also considered national designations from organizations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Emergency Nurses Association, and American College of Surgeons, as well as recognition as academic medical and research centers, 24/7 trauma centers, and measures of physician experience.
