UNC Rex Healthcare has been named one of the nation’s Top Hospitals for 2021 by The Leapfrog Group, an honor that recognizes UNC Rex’s commitment to the highest standards for patient quality and safety. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards hospitals can receive. Only 149 hospitals nationwide were selected this year, out of more than 2,200 hospitals that were considered. UNC Rex was recognized in the Top Teaching Hospital category.

The UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital will offer much-needed medical care and services to all residents of one of the Triangle’s fastest-growing regions, closer to home.

Mito Pereira won the 2021 REX Hospital Open on Sunday, a year after the Triangle’s premiere professional golf tournament was paused in response to the pandemic.

Mito Pereira, who lost his Korn Ferry Tour card after a rocky 2018 season and clawed his way back up the professional ladder, secured his PGA TOUR card in thrilling fashion Sunday at the REX Hospital Open.

After another marathon day at the REX Hospital Open, the three co-leaders – Stephan Jaeger, Andrew Novak, and Mito Pereira – each have an opportunity to secure PGA TOUR cards if they finish off a victory Sunday.

It was a marathon day at the REX Hospital Open, with some players walking upwards of 16 miles and playing 36 holes.

Andrew Novak, a Raleigh, North Carolina native who was born at REX Hospital, carded a career-low 10-under 61 and took the lead prior to the suspension of Thursday’s opening round.
