Why is lung health important?
According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the second most common type of cancer diagnosed in both men and women (not counting skin cancer), as well as the leading cause of cancer death.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. and is projected to be the third leading cause of death for both males and females by the year 2020. It is estimated that 16 million Americans are currently diagnosed with COPD and that there are as many as 14 million more that have yet to be diagnosed.
