Ultrasound is a common procedure at UNC REX that allows medical practitioners to visualize structures beneath the skin. The technique uses soundwaves beamed into the body and reflected off of various tissues to develop a picture of the interface between solid and fluid spaces. There are no known risks to ultrasound, which can be used to screen, diagnose and aid in the treatment of various diseases.
The UNC REX ultrasound department is accredited by the American College of Radiology in abdominal, obstetric and breast ultrasounds. We are equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound technology.
