The number of robotic surgeries performed at UNC REX is among the highest in the region, with patients from surrounding states choosing to come to us. UNC REX Healthcare, one of the busiest robotic surgery centers in the Southeast, is designated as a training ground for teaching surgeons how to perform hysterectomies and other gynecological surgeries using the da Vinci® robot.

The designation as an Intuitive Surgical GYN Epicenter puts UNC REX in an elite category - the only Epicenter in North Carolina and one of only 21 nationwide.

Surgeons use the da Vinci® surgical system to perform complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions and with extreme precision. The incisions are much smaller and less traumatic than those associated with traditional surgical approaches.
