Homemade Lower Sodium Soy Sauce

Homemade Lower Sodium Soy Sauce

modified from a recipe from Northwest Kidney Centers

Makes ~ 16 servings (1 Tbl per serving)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ packets of Herb-Ox Sodium Free chicken or beef Bouillon
  • 3 Tbl cider vinegar
  • 2 ½ Tbl molasses
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1 Tbl Trader Joe’s Less Sodium Soy Sauce (or Kikkoman Less Sodium Soy Sauce)
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small pot.
  2. Turn off heat and add remaining ingredients.
  3. Whisk until well blended.
  4. Pour into a bottle or mason jar and refrigerate.

This will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator.
