    Roy Tempke Roy Tempke, MHA, NHA, PT

    Roy joined UNC REX in 1993 as a physical therapist and has served in a number of leadership roles, including administrator for the two UNC REX skilled nursing facilities and as director of care management, as well as rehabilitation. As Vice President of Operations, Roy oversaw the pharmacy, lab, two skilled nursing facilities, care management, respiratory therapy, and rehabilitation. Currently, as COO, Roy oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic development for UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital and the two UNC Rex Skilled Nursing facilities.

    Roy recently served as President of the board of directors for NAMI Wake County for two years and served as a former board member for Transitions LifeCare.

    Roy earned his Bachelor of Science with a certificate in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh and his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

    Roy lives in Cary with his wife and two sons. When not watching hockey, Roy enjoys cooking, running and traveling.

    Melissa began her career at UNC Rex in 2006 when she began working with the Construction and Design Services team in Raleigh as a financial analyst. Melissa was promoted to the department’s resource manager to manage off-site clinic and hospital renovations and hospital space planning in 2012. Six years later, Melissa joined the UNC Health Care System Real Estate and Development team in Chapel Hill as a real estate manager, where she continued to manage construction projects and leasing for the UNC Health Care system. In her current role, Melissa is the director of operations of Rex Holly Springs Hospital. While in Raleigh, Melissa was involved in the initial design of Rex Holly Springs Hospital and values the ability to see the hospital come from concept to reality. She appreciates now being part of day-to-day operations. Melissa is responsible for Rex Holly Springs Hospital Support Services departments, lab, and diagnostic services. As a current resident and native of Fuquay Varina, Melissa is honored and excited to serve her community and those who are most important to her.

    Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University and her joint Master of Health Administration/Business Administration degree from Pfeiffer University.

    Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, watching the Wolfpack and working on projects around her house.

    Michelle has been with UNC Rex since 2017 and brings more than 17 years of nursing and leadership experience to her role. She has served at Rex Holly Springs Hospital since its opening on November 1, 2021. Michelle was the hospital’s first night-shift Emergency Department charge nurse and was soon promoted to Team Leader. She later became the clinical manager of the Emergency Department, where she focused on fostering a positive work environment and supporting the rapid growth of the community.

    Her background in emergency medicine, critical care, and case management has been invaluable in her current role as Director of Nursing and Clinical Operations at Rex Holly Springs Hospital.

    Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University and her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Leadership & Management from UNC Greensboro. 

    Outside of work, Michelle enjoys baking—especially sourdough bread—and spending time with her husband and their three children. She lives in Fuquay-Varina and is honored to support the continued growth and success of Rex Holly Springs Hospital.
