Pharmacy Residency Program

Welcome to the UNC REX Pharmacy! We support you in your desire to achieve the additional training that a PGY1 residency program adds to your personal and professional development.

UNC REX Hospital is a 430 bed community hospital and a member of the UNC Healthcare system. Our specialty focus areas include Heart and Vascular services, inpatient and outpatient Oncology services, and a comprehensive Surgical Service offering a wide variety of patient procedures. We are a certified Stroke Center as well as a Magnet-designated hospital.

The UNC REX Pharmacy Department provides innovative inpatient, ambulatory and retail pharmacy services to our patients in a collaborative practice setting. Our inpatient practice model combines clinical and decentralized patient care with rotating operational responsibilities, offering a well-rounded pharmacy experience for our residents.

As a UNC REX PGY-1 Resident, there are learning, teaching and practice opportunities in a wide variety of clinical and leadership rotations. Our preceptors provide a strong PGY-1 experience, preparing residents to be skilled clinicians and leaders in hospital practice or to support their further growth and development in a PGY-2 program.

Our affiliations with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences provide many student on-site education rotations annually, creating continuous opportunities for resident teaching experiences.
