Duke Health, UNC Health & WakeMed Further Restrict Visitors at Hospitals
Due to the growing spread of coronavirus / COVID-19 in North Carolina, and to limit the risk of exposure for patients, caregivers, and employees, UNC Health will be enacting more stringent restrictions for visitors at its facilities.
Effective immediately, Duke Health, UNC Health and WakeMed are prioritizing and rescheduling some non-emergent or non-critical surgeries, procedures and appointments. Emergency and other essential services will not be affected.
The UNC Medical Center McLendon Clinical Laboratories in Chapel Hill have developed a diagnostic test for coronavirus disease 2019 based on a World Health Organization assay. The UNC test is now in use at the medical center in Chapel Hill, NC.
