Specialty Classes

The REX Wellness Centers offer specialty classes in addition to our regular group classes.

These specialty classes are often open for non-members who chose attend classes without purchasing a full membership. There may be an additional fee for members who wish to take the class.


TRX suspension training is a high-intensity strength workout that adds the element of instability by using all bodyweight-based exercises. Increase muscle definition, endurance, strength, flexibility and sports performance through this fun and challenging workout.

TRX is offered in either a small group setting (five to eight participants) or individually with a certified personal trainer.


Members may register for one month of classes for $20 or drop in for $5 per class.

Non-members may register for one month of classes for $50 or drop in for $15 per class. Drop-ins are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

TRX Class Descriptions

  • Beginner TRX - Beginner TRX incorporates the basic movements of TRX at a slower pace. Safety, modifications and fundamentals will be stressed throughout this class. Offered at REX Wellness Center of Knightdale.
  • TRX - A high intensity strength workout that uses all bodyweight based exercises to add an element of instability that demands greater joint stabilization, core strength and muscle endurance. Although exercises can be modified for all fitness levels, this is an intense workout and appropriate for those who have been exercising regularly. Offered at REX Wellness Centers of Cary, Knightdale, Garner and Raleigh.
  • TRX EXPRESS - The same great class as TRX with a shorter duration. Offered at REX Wellness Center of Raleigh.

Some yoga classes are included at no extra charge as part of our group exercise program, other specialty yoga classes are offered to members for an extra fee. Explore group fitness yoga class descriptions and schedules.

  • Beginning/Continuing Yoga - In the beginning/continuing class the focus is on building body awareness, flexibility, strength, endurance and balance. Traditional yoga has been known to improve mental focus and clarity, create an inner calm, as well as improve some chronic physical issues and be a preventative measure. Traditional yoga is more than a physical exercise; it is a whole body/mind practice. This series is a 10-week session. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $90; Non-Members $110
  • Prenatal Hatha - This class is designed to provide the experience and enjoyment of yoga for expectant mothers through their entire pregnancy. This prenatal series helps to gently strengthen the uterus and pelvis muscles, improve digestion and promote spine mobility; all of which will increase comfort and enhance relaxation. The breathing techniques, postures and conscious relaxation learned in class promote a healthy pregnancy and help prepare for labor and delivery. A doctor’s note is required to participate. The 1-hour class is in a six-week session.
    • Cost: Members $63; Non-Members $77
  • Yoga Foundations - for those wanting to try yoga without the intimidation of a group class or those wanting to refine their practice. We will do a step by step of the foundational yoga postures with correct structural alignment, including appropriate modifications for each individual. We will introduce the breath and how to link it with movement. This series will empower you to join a group class safely and confidently. This small group format will allow for questions and discussions, all are welcome! Come find your yoga! Maximum of 10 participants. This is a 6-week series. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54; Non-Members $66
  • Gentle Assisted Yoga - Do you have difficulty getting up from the floor? This class is tailored for the newbie and those with limitations and poor balance. Improve posture, range of motion, joint mobility and stability, flexibility, strength and balance. Develop core strength, decrease back pain, increase lung capacity and assist with mental clarity and function. Each class ends with restorative relaxation. This class is a six-week session. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54; Non-Members $66
  • Power Yoga - This Vinyasa yoga class is characterized by flowing movements synchronized with the breath. This alignment oriented class will include variety within a simple or complex sun salutation series. This is an intermediate level class encompassing strength, balance, flexibility, and some cardiovascular exercise. The class is a six-week session. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54; Non-Members $66
  • Beginner Yin Yoga - Class will begin with a slow, gentle Yoga practice (seated and standing) to stretch the body to prepare for the longer Yin holds. Yin poses (seated and supine) focus on the release of connective tissue, opening fascia and tendons as we surrender into the poses for longer periods of time. Yin poses also stretch the connective tissue surrounding the joints - easing joint mobility as well as deeply stretching the muscles, helping to increase flexibility, improve balance and release stress. This class is suitable for beginners and all levels of practitioners. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54; Non-Members $66
  • Yin Yoga for the Athlete - Class will begin with a Yoga Flow practice to warm up the body and prepare for the longer holds of the Yin practice. Yin Yoga (seated and supine) helps increase flexibility, improves balance and releases stress. Yin poses also help open the lower back and hips using long holds - ultimately applying pressure to the tissues deeper than muscles - diving deep into the body, open fascia and tendons and detoxifying the liver, kidneys, stomach and spleen. This class is suitable for beginners and all levels of practitioners that can easily move from seated to standing without assistance. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54; Non-Members $66

Tai Chi

  • Tai Chi for Arthritis - Tai Chi is a gentle, low impact, aerobic exercise which involves the entire body and mind. For anyone rehabilitating from injuries or living with chronic physical conditions and joint limitations, Tai Chi can be a safe exercise to improve range of motion, reduce pain and inflammation, increase muscle strength and stamina, and improve balance. It is also tremendously valuable as a stress management technique and appropriate for all levels. Sessions are 1 hour.
    • Cost: Members $54;  Non-Members $66
