RALEIGH, N.C. - Triangle Physician Network (TPN) is pleased to announce the addition of two new practices: Garner Family Practice and Gibbons Family Medicine of Cary.
Garner Family Practice has been caring for patients for more than three decades and now has nine physicians and two nurse practitioners. Gibbons Family Medicine is led by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Gregory Gibbons and Dr. Elizabeth Gibbons and has been open since 2000.
"These are not only excellent physicians and high-quality practices, they are fixtures in the medical communities of Garner and Cary," said Bob Ricker, executive administrative director of TPN. "This allows Triangle Physician Network to expand into key geographic markets as we seek to serve more patients closer to their homes."
TPN is a joint effort between Rex Healthcare and UNC Health Care that operates a regional network of physicians to expand the system's ability to support the evolving healthcare needs of this region. TPN primary care practices coordinate with the healthcare system's electronic medical records, operational support and specialty care providers to give patients access to a robust network of services that are part of UNC/Rex.
TPN will assist Garner Family Practice, which was founded in 1979 as a solo practice by Dr. Johnny Bagwell, in adopting electronic medical records and in continuing to offer the same services its physicians have provided for years. The practice, located at 801 Poole Drive in Garner, will retain all of its 49 employees.
"In the current healthcare environment, every practice is going to need to have a partner, and we felt that TPN would be the best match for us," Bagwell said. "It's not about more money, but it will allow us to avoid cutting any services because of declining reimbursements and the economic slowdown."
As it joins TPN, Gibbons Family Medicine plans to add the latest, most convenient technology for patients, including electronic medical records. The practice, at 114 Brady Court in Cary, also plans major renovations to make the office more modern and comfortable, said Dr. Elizabeth Gibbons.
"Joining TPN means that we can focus on providing the best care for our very faithful patients," she said. "We'll also have direct and fast access to all the specialists in the UNC/Rex network. That gives us a great feeling; to know we're part of the UNC/Rex team."
